City Hall have approved the Motspur Park Development

I am deeply frustrated that the Deputy Mayor of London refused to listen to the concerns of local councillors, the community, and myself over Motspur Park.

The local residents could not have done more. The Liberal Democrats and the local community worked incredibly hard to highlight the massive impact of this development on Worcester Park - and when Kingston Council's planning committee refused the proposal, we had all hoped that reason had prevailed.

Sadly, it was not to be. In a damning indictment of the power imbalance between City Hall and local councils - Sadiq Khan allowed the project to be called in for review, and at a meeting chaired by the Deputy Mayor of London, the proposal was reinstated.

We have since written to the Government to ask them to step in and consider the case. But as things stand, the project is going ahead, and so for now I will be doing everything I can to make sure that residents' voices are heard as it takes shape and that every opportunity to reduce the impact on residents and traffic.
