Keeping us Safe
Investing in our safety builds strong communities.
Luke believes you can't truly be free to live your life if you are living with the fear of crime.
Sutton is one of the safest places to live in the country - but like any other London borough, there are daily nuisance crimes that can make life miserable. Crimes like tool and phone theft, illegally modified e-bikes and antisocial behaviour.
Luke is pushing for more resources for the Met Police to make sure they can get back to proper community policing, with more bobbies on the beat to tackle these disruptive crimes.
There are also big, structural challenges that Luke believes cannot be ignored if we are to truly keep our area safe - like helping the Met Police go through the reforms it needs to root out those who undermine trust in the police, changing our approach to young people at risk of knife crime and violence to rescue them before it is too late, and rooting out the epidemic of violence against women and girls.

The Crime and Policing Bill
I sat on the Bill Committee for the government's landmark crime legislation in 2025, holding their feet to the fire.
I was lucky enough to sit on the Bill Committee for the Government's Crime and Policing Bill - meaning I had the chance to scrutinise the legislation for the last several months.
I spent hours trying to get the Government to take serious action to implement a public health approach to knife crime, reform stalking laws and invest in proper community policing.
I was very frustrated that whilst the Government seemed open to working with me on these issues, they refused to change their Bill to really reflect what's needed.
So when it came to the House, I spoke at length over two days of debate about the need to get these issues sorted.
The most important way to nourish communities and give people the best chance in life is to make sure they are safe.
You can watch all of my contributions to the debate over this Bill below - including my amendment to reform stalking laws to make it easier for victims to get the justice they deserve.
