“Shocking scale” of cuts to police numbers in London revealed as Lib Dem MP calls for action

Responding to a clarification made today by the Minister of State for Policing, confirming that the MOPAC cuts will see a loss of 1419 full-time equivalent officers and staff in London, Luke Taylor MP said:

“These numbers highlight the shocking scale of the losses to our police force that London is about to experience.

“The Minister confirmed this in response to my request for clarity after what she herself has described as ‘confusion’ over the exact numbers.

“But no matter how the Government tries to spin it, these numbers are appalling at a time when so many Londoners are worried about crime in their community.

“We need to see proper action on reversing these cuts and getting London back to proper community policing”
