Responding to the news that Air Traffic Control issues have grounded flights out of London today (Wednesday 30th July), Liberal Democrat London Spokesperson and Chair of the Future of Aviation All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Luke Taylor MP said:

“This is deeply alarming, and coming so hot on the heels of the substation fire which shut down Heathrow earlier this year, it calls into question the resilience of our airports.

“I’ve been calling on the Government to review resilience across our airports, and will press them to recognise that today’s disruption should be a turning point. We should not be so vulnerable to these kinds of widespread issues.

“As Chair of the Future of Aviation APPG, I will be looking into the causes of today’s disruption and asking the Government to come forward with concrete steps to stop this from happening again.”
