“A vote of confidence in our high street” says Luke Taylor MP after Morrisons confirm plans to stay in Sutton

Responding to the news that Morrisons have confirmed they intend to build a new store on the site of their currently closed one in Sutton High Street, Liberal Democrat MP for Sutton and Cheam Luke Taylor said:

“I’m really pleased to see Morrisons make a commitment to build a new store on the site of their existing one in Sutton, which has been closed for over a year"

“Over that last year, constituents and local businesses made it clear to me that they wanted to see Morrisons stay on the high street - and I’m glad that this is what is happening.

“It’s a vote of confidence in our high street, and the great work we are doing to keep Sutton a thriving, bustling place to do business.

“I have heard from so many of you about getting this important store on our high street back up and running - and I’ll continue to represent your views by engaging with Morrisons as they explore the viability of different options.”
